He made this call at the 13th Prof.I.A.B Balogun memorial Lecture organised by the Bodija Estate And Environs Muslim Community, the first in the series of Ramadan lecture for the the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking on the topic, Moral Lessons In Islam, Olaniyan noted that security and other challenges currently bedeviling the country can be addressed through the teaching of Islamic education.

This, according to the Igboho-politician, will help eradicate the defiant posturing of our youths and other societal ills, not just in Oyo state, but the country in the country.

He also remarked that the decline in Islamic education has negatively affected the morals of the youths. He therefore called on relevant Islamic institutions in the state to step up efforts in resuscitating Islamic education.

Olaniyan also remarked that Islam and Islamic education helped shaped him into what he is today, expressing the belief that the same can be achieved by today’s youth if exposed to the benefits of Islamic education.

On his involvement in politics, Olaniyan, who retired as a Permanent Secretary after 26 years in the Oyo state civil service, noted that not everyone who went into politics are hungry or looking for ways to enrich themselves, but to contribute their quota to the development of their respective communities.

He stressed that the holy Quran subscribes to faithful participating in politics, opining that politics gives one the opportunity to serve humanity.

Earlier Sheikh Lukman Rufai Bello, the guest lecturer, while delivering his lecture had called on muslims to worship Allah with fear and reverence to the words and teachings of the Holy Quran.
