Michael Okunlade, chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has cautioned the deputy governor of Oyo State against making false claim in order to prove to his boss, Governor Seyi Makinde that he is attracting people to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, was reacting to story that the leadership of the SDP in the ten local governments of Okeogun area returned Fati the PDP.
According to the Igboho-born politician, leader should take as a duty to always tell the followers truth all the time and resort to lies to score cheap political lies.
”When the news was forwarded to me, what I first did was to denounce it to our members. But I think it is imperative to make this release in order to let the people know that is going.
“Except that of Kajola local government, I have spoken to all the party chairmen in the other 9 and I can confirm to you that none of them were in the jamboree meeting they claimed they did. Moreover the likes of Somope Mudathir, Baba Elisha, Olarenwaju Ahmed are not members of SDP. People know them and we can see them in the picture.
”Some notable leaders like Elediko and Orotona personally have personally spoken with me to dissociate themselves.
“But what I cannot say is that there would be few individuals who are hungry politicians that are involved.
“SDP is solidly a big party in Oyo State. You know I am from Okeogun. So people should disregard the fake story,” Okunlade added.
