Speaking with newsmen, one of the party’s leaders in the constituency, Jimoh Lasisi of Ward 7 noted that the conduct of the primary is unprecedented and disgraceful.

“What happened here today was very bad. We were told to come and vote today and we got here to vote only for them (the organisers) to come and leave without conducting any election. I have been in politics for a long time; this is unprecedented and bad.”

He noted that if changes are not made, party members can decide not to vote during the general election.

In other cases, members of the party were seen cursing the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for reportedly denying them the right to elect the party’s flagbearer.

Meanwhile, the acclaimed winner, Olorunpoto, has released a statement, expressing his gratitude to to Makinde and other party leaders for supporting his nomination as the party’s flag bearer in the constituency.

“I thank the His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, our leader, whose performance has given us a sense of assurance to approach the elections with confidence and has made PDP an attractive party for all in the state.

“I thank our esteemed leaders, including political and public office holders both at the state and the local level,” he wrote.
