The leadership of the Social Democratic Party in Oyo State has charged its supporters in Ibadan North federal constituency not to be distracted by the omission of the party’s candidate from the list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The electoral commission in a list of candidates expected to participate in the bye-election to fill the vacant Ibadan North federal constituency seat had omitted the name of SDP’s candidate, Islamiyat Oluwatoyin Abdulkadir.
However, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Saturday morning, the party’s chairman in the state, Okunlade Michael noted that the issue that led to the omission has been resolved and the name of the party’s candidate will reflect in an updated list expected from INEC soon.
“I want to address the recent omission of our candidate’s name from the list, which was an error from the national secretariat. This issue has been promptly resolved.
“Please rest assured that there is no cause for alarm, and I encourage everyone not to be distracted by this incident but to instead intensify our campaign efforts.
“I would also like to express my appreciation for our candidate’s spirit and the hard work she has invested in this project,” the chairman wrote in his statement.
