This is just as Akande, while condemning the attack on the palace of Soun, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi by hoodlums, said it was barbaric to bring dead bodies into the palace.

It would be recalled that some hoodlums had invaded Oba Oyewumi’s palace yesterday’s evening, injuring people and vandalizing property in the process. That came few hours after Isiaka Jimoh was killed during an #EndSARS protest in the ancient town.

According to him, “While I condemn the killing of Isiaka Jimoh, I like to say the hoodlums should not have gone to the palace of the highly revered monarch to vandalize property and injure people.

“The killing is so unfortunate. I commiserate with friends and family, especially the parents and siblings of late Isiaka Jimoh. Nobody wants to lose children, I pray God to comfort the family at this trying time.Attacking the palace of our peace-loving Kabiyesi is uncalled for. Oba Ajagungbade that I know is a man of peace”, he said.

Condemning the police for the way they have handled the protest in some parts of the state, Akande, who is a lawyer, said that protesters should not be maltreated as all their demands would also affect all Nigerians, irrespective of religion and tribe.

Akande said that the SARS should not only be ended, men of the Nigeria security agencies, especially Nigeria Police Force, NPF, should be made to undergo training and retraining especially on respect for human rights. “We cannot continue to lose our youths, people who we should rely on to change our fortunes as a nation”.
