The 10th Dawah retreat of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO) Southern Zone has commenced in Ibadan, Oyo state capital with Special Jumat Service and visitation to the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abubakr Agbotomokekere.
The Southern Zone of NACOMYO consists of 17 states across the South West, South East and South South geo-political zones of Nigeria.
Delegates from Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Lagos, Edo, Delta, Imo among others have arrived in Ibadan for the 3-day retreat scheduled to hold from Friday, 18th April, 2025 till Sunday 20th April, 2025.
The Jumat service was held at the Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
During the service, an Imam of the Mosque, Sheikh Fadlur-Rahman AbdurRaheem, while describing the ongoing NACOMYO Retreat as a world-class gathering for deliberations on the purpose of creation, admonished Nigerian youths to be steadfast and devoted to worship of Allah.
The cleric, who noted that the youths are a true reflection of the nation advised the Muslim youths to shun frivolous lifestyle, worship Allah at easy and difficult times, as well as protect their religion from sinful acts.
According to him, “Allah creates humans for a purpose -devotion to Him in worship, then it is imperative to sustain good deeds, keep His commandments for success in life and hereafter”.
In another development, NACOMYO delegates were led by the National Vice President, who is also the Southern Zonal Chairman, Imam Idris Yusuf-Adio from Edo state on a visitation to the Chief Imam of Ibadanland Sheikh Abubakr Agbotomokekere at the Oja’ba Central Mosque, Ibadan to receive the spiritual blessing for the retreat.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abubakr Agbotomokekere, the Mogaji Agba, Oke-Are, Ibadan, Sheikh Abdulwaheed Ahmad-Rufai prayed for NACOMYO to have a fruitful deliberation for the generality of Ummah.
Sheikh Agbotomokekere while commending Oyo state Coordinator of NACOMYO, Alhaji Daud Afolabi for his efforts towards uplifting Islam, promised support for the Dawah retreat.
National and Zonal executive members of NACOMYO on the visit include: the National Secretary General, Alhaji Moshood Akintola (Oyo), the National Treasurer, Dr Muftau Bello, (Osun), Zonal Secretary, Alhaji Abdulazeez Babalola, (Osun), State Ameerats: Alhaja Maimunat Ali-Balogun, (Ekiti), Alhaja Zulaikha Abdulazeez, (Osun), and the host Ameerat, Alhaja Saudat Adio, (Oyo).
Oyo state Deputy Governor, Barr. AbdurRaheem Bayo Lawal will be the Special Guest of Honour, while Professor Abdulganiy Olayinka Raji of the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, University of Ibadan will speak on the theme of the retreat “The Human Mind: Between Mundane and Spiritual Felicity; Youth on Call”.
Other speakers at the 10th Southern Zone NACOMYO Retreat tagged Oyo 2025 include Dr Dawood Amoo-Alaga and Al-Mudeer Amubikahun Ajiginni with the former Managing Director, First Bank of Nigeria, Dr Kazeem Adeduntan as the Chairman on the occasion.
