Many guests who were at the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan venue of the grand finale of the 90th birthday of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji asked each other while the elevated Ibadan monarchs were missing at the event.
People waited endlessly to catch a glimpse of the elevated monarchs at the reception organized to mark the 90th birthday of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, especially with their recent ‘peace’ meeting.
Out of the 10 other members of the Olubadan in council, only two- High Chief Rashidi Ladoja and Iyalode Aminat Abiodun were present.
Oba Adetunji and the elevated monarchs had been at loggerheads following their coronation a year ago.
The controversial review of the Ibadan chieftaincy law by the state government, has however been challenged in the court.
A palace aide who spoke with journalists on the condition of anonymity was also surprised at the action of the elevated monarchs, despite the invitation by the state government.
