In a bid to sharpen its strategic engagements towards the upcoming local government election in the state, the Oorelope Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has constituted and inaugurated its campaign council.
In a brief ceremony that took place at the party’s general meeting which held at the Baptist High School (BHS) Igboho, on Tuesday, 16th April, 2024, the Oorelope APC party chairman, Mr. Saliu Maja announced the names of members of the campaign council, with Hon. Adesola Yaqub Tasoolo, as the Director General of the council.
The constitution of the council is in line with the party’s efforts to retain its dominance in the local government political space, being entrusted with popular mandate of leadership by the electorates as witnessed during the last 2023 general election, when the people overwhelmingly voted the APC candidates into the state’s House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate as well as the presidency, more so, as the Local Government has been reduced to a shadow of itself by the party in government in the state, as the closest institution of government to the people, with no tangible development and lack of transparency and accountability.
The list, as made available to our reporter by Mr. Okanlawon Saheed, the PRO at the local government, contains names of members of the council, Hon. Adesola Yaqub (chairman), Hon. Sulaiman Oyebisi (Secretary), others are Mr. Jamiu Ateere, Hon. Adeyemi Mathew, Mr. Adigun Oluwatoyin, Mr. Amao Gbenga and Hon. Adelani Mathew. Others in the list are Mr. Sulaiman Gbeje, Alhaji Oseni Oni, Mrs. Bashiru Serifat and Mrs. Olaleye Rebecca. Members shall bring to bear their high-level experiences and commitment to grassroots engagement and exposure to public services at various categories.
The campaign council DG, Hon. Yaqub, a seasoned telecommunications expert with vast knowledge and experience in public and private sector, is a former caretaker chairman of Oorelope local government, the personal assistant (P.A) to the former deputy governor of Oyo state and a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in the 2023 general election. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Jos.
