Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (SOLAN), has received with sadness, the demise of frontline businessman and prominent Ibadan indigene, Dr. Lekan Are, last Saturday.
Lanlehin, governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in the 2019 governorship election, described Dr. Are’s death as a terrible loss, not only to Ibadan and Oyo State in particular, but also to Nigeria in general.
Lanlehin, who recalled the impressive contributions of Dr. Are to nearly all sectors of the Nigerian economy, particularly noted his immeasurable affection for his Alma Mata, Government College, Ibadan (GCI), admonishing other old students to take a cue from the contributions of that illustrious old boy, to contribute their quota to the development and advancement of their respective schools.
As an agriculturist, Dr. Are was a former General Manager of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, as well as Lekan Are Farms Limited.
Senator Lanlehin (SOLAN) who appealed to the Are family – nuclear and extended, not to despair, particularly at this hour of grief, urged them to take solace in the good legacy left behind by their patriach, and the indelible marks he left in the sands of time.
Lanlehin, while praying for the repose of the soul of the 86-year old Dr. Are, who until his death was the Laguna Bobajiro of Ibadan, admonished his family to keep up the good works of philanthropy he became noted for, saying that posterity will never forget them for doing so.
Senator Lanlehin (SOLAN) commiserates with the entire Are family of Oke-Are, Ibadan, the Punch newspaper, Kakanfo Inn, and everyone connected to the deceased beloved Ibadan indigene.
