The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Oyo State, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, on Friday expressed worries as security agents asked him to put on hold the official inauguration of his campaign billed for Saturday.
This postponement, according to Lanlehin’s media aide, Damola Adeoye, “is at the instance of the security agents who had informed us this morning (Friday) of the scheduled visit of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in continuation of the Federal Government’s TraderMoni Scheme.
“While we’ve accepted, in good faith, as responsible citizens, to postpone our flag off, we’re alarmed that the Federal Government, with the Oyo State Government, would design a clash of dates in a brazen show of force.
“This alarm is further predicated on the fact that having duly notified security agencies of our schedule, this flag off inclusive, this orchestrated clash of date represents nothing but a gross abuse of power and privileges, and is a futile attempt to checkmate our rising profile which the Oyo State Government has been so uncomfortable with.
“Despite this arrogance of power, we remain unperturbed and undaunted in our quest to deliver Oyo State from the strangulating grip of this APC led government, and the birth of a pro-people, masses-friendly government come 29 May, 2019,” Lanlehin added.
Meanwhile, the state government has said that VP Osinbajo, during his visit, will inaugurate the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Clinics (MSME) shared facilities for Fashion, Style and Shea Butter production in Ibadan.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Cooperatives, Princess Taibat Adeyemi-Agaba said that the opening ceremony will hold at the Scout Camp Neighbourhood Market, Molete Ibadan, by 9.00am, stating that Governor Abiola Ajimobi will be the chief host at the event.
