Former governor Rashidi Ladoja has boasted that the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, which he defected to from the African Democratic Congress, Barr Sharafadeen Alli, will win the 2019 governorship election.
According to Ladoja, who spoke at the presentation of Alli as ZLP’s governorship candidate in the state, Alli sought his approval to join ZLP to contest as governor and that he approved his decision.
“I am now in Zenith Labour Party. We have been on the matter for the past three months,” Ladoja said, noting that ZLP remained the party to beat.
OYO INSIGHT recalled that 12 other ADC governorship aspirants went to court after accusing Ladoja and other leaders of the party of imposing Lanlehin on them.
Ladoja had, few weeks after, accused members of the Unity Forum, a breakaway faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of running the party without respect for him and others. Many had, however, thought Ladoja would stay with Lanlehin in ADC.
Before his defection, Alli, a former council chairman, secretary to the state government, chief of staff to a governor and later chairman of Odu’a group of companies, was one of the 12 aggrieved governorship aspirants under ADC. Before him, four other aspirants – Engr Remi Olaniyan, Dr Kola Balogun, Dr Dele Adigun and Dr Nureni Adeniran had joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Speaking further, Ladoja added that “By the grace of God, we will win. You know that the candidate himself is not sleeping.
