Labzy Alternative has organized the first edition of a roundtable event named Alt Cafe, designed to bring new initiatives to leadership through solution-focused discussions between young people across the state.
The first edition of the roundtable conversation was held on September 21 under the theme: Harnessing Opportunities in Oyo state; Potentials, Policies and Politics. It featured a duologue session led by the Convener, Adeola Adelabu popularly known as Ogbeni Labzy, and Prince Damola Layade.
It also featured a roundtable discussion with key contributions from Dayo Ogunbowale, Special Assistant to the Governor on Communications; Michael Ogunsina, Youth Leader / Acting PRO Oyo State PDP; Prince David Adeoye, Executive Director of O.N.E Foundation; Prince Ademola Oyeledun, Executive Researcher and Historian, and Stephen Ademola, President, Junior Chamber International, Ibadan.
“The ALT Café 1.0 provided a platform for robust discussions on key issues affecting Oyo State, focusing on land acquisition, tourism, local government autonomy, and food security. The participants, comprising young professionals from various sectors, engaged in thoughtful deliberations that emphasized the need for inclusive governance, citizen engagement, and sustainable development. These conversations underscored the critical role of the government in balancing developmental goals with public interest and preserving cultural heritage.
“The recommendations put forward reflect the collective desire to see a more responsive and proactive government that prioritizes public participation in policy-making. By addressing these concerns, the state can create an environment that encourages growth, social well-being, and economic stability. The ALT Café remains committed to facilitating similar solution-driven conversations that will continue to drive progress and improve the quality of life for all residents of Oyo State,” a communique issued at the event, signed by the Convener, read in part.
Ogbeni Labzy Alternative is a group convened by Adeola Adelabu to contribute to societal development through a number of initiatives otherwise known as alternatives. The group consists of young people primarily based in Oyo state but with membership spread across the globe.
Through online and physical engagement, the group aims to provide solutions or alternatives to issues and problems faced in the society, especially in Oyo state through a number of initiatives, one of which is the Alt Café.
