In what many have termed ‘koseleri’, the leaders of the masquerades, who were suspended by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, on Monday reported the monarch to the elevated Ibadan kings.
They attended the meeting of Ibadan high chiefs turned Obas at Mapo to report that they were issued a letter of suspension by the monarch.
Oba Saliu Adetunji, OYO INSIGHT recalled, had ordered that none of the Ibadan masquerades should visit or pay homage to any of the controversial elevated monarchs.
Obviously backed by the government as the governor was represented by Ibadan-born information commissioner, Mr Toye Arulogun, some of the masqueraders defied Olubadan’s order and visited the Ali-Iwo and Labiran compounds of Oba Lekan Balogun, the Otun Olubadan and Oba Tajudeen Olakulehin, the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The two leaders, Mr. Ojeniyi Akintomide Okugbaja from Isale Osun, Oranyan and Ojetunde Akinleye Asoleke told the kings that immediately after the conclusion of masquerade festival, the Olubadan ordered that they should be given suspension letter for flouting his directive.
While Asoleke collected the letter, Okugbaja rejected his own which was later sent to him directly.
