A lawyer, Mrs Taiwo Adenike Muraina-Akinola, from Oyo town, was today inaugurated as Clerk of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Apart from breaking record as the first from her hometown to be in the position, the elevation coincided with her 54th birthday.
Married to Muraina Lukuman Akinola, a serving permanent secretary of Local Government Pension Board, she was born to the family of Professor and Mrs Lasisi Rashid Oladoja of Department of History and International studies, University of Ilorin, Kwara state in 1970.
She started her education at the Ansar-ud-deen Primary School, Obele-Odan, Surulere, Lagos and her secondary education at the Ansar-ud-deen secondary school,Randle Avenue Surulere, Lagos between 1981-1986.She proceeded to the Olivet Baptist High school,Oyo in 1989 for H.S.C.
She read law at the Obafemi Awolowo University ile-ife and graduated in 1996. She
attended the Nigerian Law School,Bwari Abuja where she had her B.L and was called to the
Bar as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 19999. She continued in pursuit of her academic career with a Master of Laws at the Obafemi Awolowo University in 2004.
Mrs Muraina-Akinola is certified Mediator and Chartered Mediator and Conciliators.S he
observed her Mandatory Youth Service at the Department of Public Prosecutions, Ministry
of Justice, Gombe state under Hon.Justice Adamu Jauro (JCA), the then Director of Public Prosecutions.
She joined the Oyo State Civil Service as a State Counsel in 2000 and had worked in various departments in Ministry of Justice such as Legal Drafting and Ministerial Counseling, Litigation and Advisory services and Legal Drafting and Parliamentary
Counselling.Membership of various committee of Government such as committee on
Female Genital Mutilation, Technical Committee on Government Land, Committee on Construction of some Roads in state and Technical Committee on Administration of Justice Bill.
She was seconded to the state Legislature in 2013 and later got her appointment
transferred to the legislative service. She has served as Director, Legal Services, Oyo State
House of Assembly between December,2013 to February 2nd, 2021 from where she was
appointed as Deputy Clerk of the House on 2nd February,2021.
Mrs Muraina-Akinola, while serving as Deputy clerk of the Oyo state House of Assembly,
served diligently as clerk of the following committees: Selection/Functionaries
Committee, Rules and Business and Ethics and Privileges. She had attended numerous
workshops, seminars and trainings both within and outside Nigeria.
