‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, was absent as newly elected council chairmen were inaugurated Friday morning.
OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that Makinde, who was in the United States’ oldest institution of higher education, Yale University, for his second child’s graduation, hasn’t arrived the country.
He was represented on the occasion by his deputy, Bayo Lawal.
This newspaper recalled that the newly chairmen, all of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had emerged in an election condemned by not only the opposition parties that participated but by the people.
Observed by OYOINSIGHT.COM, the election was marred by absence of electoral officers as well materials in majority of the polling units.
These, it was learnt, was done when it was learnt that apart from the populace who were angry with the performance of the immediate past council chiefs, the opposition parties especially the All Progressives Congress, APC, participated in the contest.
