A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan head ruled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held by the Governor Seyi Makinde led factor on November 15, 2025 in Ibadan, is null.
In a judgment delivered by Justice Uche Agomoh on Friday, the court barred the Tanimu Turaki–led National Working Committee (NWC) and other officials elected at the convention from their offices.
It declared that the Caretaker Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s faction loyal to the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, remains the only recognised National Working Committee of the PDP pending the conduct of a valid national convention.
The PDP has been embroiled in an internal leadership crisis since 2023. Despite the lingering disputes, a faction loyal to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed, proceeded to organise an elective national convention at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
The convention produced a new National Working Committee, with former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki (SAN), emerging as national chairman, tasked with steering the party towards the 2027 general elections.
