Afeez Bolaji Repete, a senatorial aspirant in Oyo central and immediate past deputy national youth leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has congratulated the longest-serving chairman of the party in the state, Chief Akin Oke, on his birthday.
Describing Oke as a father and mentor, Repete said he has enjoyed a solid relationship with the Ogbomoso-born professional cum politician.
According to him, “Baba has always been my mentee from the very first I met him. Baba is an example of everything good you can have in a mentor. He wouldn’t hesitate to scold me; he would advise me as and when due. I have learnt a lot, moving closer to him.
”At 86, Baba is someone we can call king of boys. He surrounds himself with a lot of young individuals and he is always quick to reminisce on how he got here, a development that has assisted people like me in dealing with life.
”Baba will always tell you why it is good to be content and be loyal to what one believes. He will tell you why integrity matters in whatever we do. You know I lost my father long ago. Baba is like God-sent, someone who has in a big way come to fill the void created by the loss. In fact, I am proud to call him my mentor.
Ko“So, a birthday of someone like him mustn’t go without me congratulating him. I pray God preserves him more so that we can drink from his deep reservoir of knowledge. Happy birthday Baba Oke,” Repete said.
