He spoke further: “Our party needs a God/fearing, focused, experienced, well exposed and articulated personality to be a bridge builder. That they can find in me.
“I’m in my late 50s and having contested elections twice, being a state vice chairman of a party with national outlook, a cabinet member/honourable commissioner in Oyo State, I understand the terrain and what it takes to lead the party.”
He also spoke about his antecedents. “I was born into a progressive family with my late grandpa being an active member of the Action Group. I’m a foundation member of Alliance for Democracy, AD, in 1998 and remains in progressive family till date. I served as special assistant (projects) to the then deputy governor of Osun State between 1999 – 2003 in the government of Chief Bisi Akande, our pioneer National Chairman, APC.
“Because of my handwork, loyalty and forthrightness, I have been having political appointments since the advent of democracy,” he added.
Asked about how to go about resolving the crisis in the party, Adeoye said that “Yes, the party is in crises. First of all, let’s ponder on what caused the crises; insincerity, fear of God, favouritism, fairness and lack of respect and adherence for the party constitution and guidelines. You may wish to recall that the crises referred to originated from not conducting free and fair primaries and impositions to elective offices.
“I have all it takes to unite all warring factions because I’m a brigde builder between the old, young, elders leaders and other party faithful and sympathisers. I’m well behaved, respected, accepted, well educated and exposed within the political family.“
