I’ll Always Be Grateful To Adedibu, Says Obi As He Visits Late Politician’s Wife

The Onyendu Ndigbo (Igbo Leader) of Ibadanland and Oyo State, High Chief Alloy Obi, has rejoiced with the widow of the late strongman of Ibadan politics, High Chief Lamidi Adedibu, Alhaja Modinat Adedibu, on her birthday.

Obi who paid a visit to the Molete, Ibadan residence of the Adedibus, to acknowledge the support Adedibu gave to him during the Igbo leadership crisis, described Alhaja Adedibu as a virtous woman who stood by her husband in his political journey.

He said as a woman of great substance she has continued to uphold the legacy of her late husband, stating that she has also made a name for herself with her kindness and compassion which have made significant impact on the lives of those who come in contact with her.

According to him, “I am here today to felicitate with you on your birthday and also acknowledge the role played by your late husband and our own father, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, in my struggle during the 28-year-old Igbo leadership crisis.

“I say to you happy birthday. My prayer is that Almighty God will grant you many more years to continue your service to humanity with sound health, peace of mind and prosperity while also endowing you with all you need to keep the legacy of our dear Baba.

“I want to publicly say that when he was alive Baba stood with me during the Igbo leadership crisis, indeed he threw open the door of this house for me to come in at any time for his support and counselling. Indeed, I would be eternally grateful to him.”

Alhaja Adedibu in her remarks, lauded Obi and his team which included Mr. Simon Chukwu; Chief Isaac Osoeze and Joseph Obi, for the visit, stating that the residence of the Adedibus is a second home for Obi and his family.

Obi and his entourage then visited the tomb of Alhaji Adedibu, where they offered prayers for his soul to continue to rest in peace.
