Ibikunle, who was personal assistant to late former governor Lamidi Adesina, said it was sad that Ajimobi died at a time his wealth of experience was needed.

According to Ibikunle, his relationship with the deceased predated the beginning of the current fourth republic.

“Just like my late boss, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina, another political juggernaut is gone. I remember I was one of the few invitees to his 50th birthday. He later joined the defunct Alliance for Democracy, AD, where he contested the 2003 senatorial election in Oyo South. We reconnected in the build up to the 2011 elections.

“While I condole families and friends of the late political leader, I want to say that Sen. Abiola Ajimobi did his best when it comes to governance. This is without being economical with the truth. Yes, we may have slight political difference, I must say the only time the people of Oyo witnessed good governance were during the times of late Alhaji Lamidi Adesina and Senator Abiola Ajimobi. Even before their deaths, both of them have continued to be remembered,” Ibikunle added.
