The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State on Monday laid foundation of 72 rooms office complex in honor of the governor of the state, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
It would be recalled that the Rector of the institution, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi while speaking with journalists in Ibadan during the ‘turning of the sod’ of the complex said that the proposed edifice, tagged: “Engineer Seyi Makinde Academic Office Complex for Lecturer” will helped lecturers in the institution to give their best to students.
According to Adebiyi, the 72 standard office complex for senior lecturers was one of the aim of the institution in solving challenges facing lecturers in the institution, adding that welfarism of staff is part of requirements for accreditation of courses by National Board of Technical Education Studies (NBTE).
“Today is a remarkable day because this is the first time we will be having this, we approached the government after the idea was concieved and the government gave nod to it and support us both financially.”
The Rector stated that the budget for the complex was N458 million, and it will takes 36 weeks for it’s completion, thanking the government for keying into the vision.
The Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution, Professor Kunle Akinyemi decribed the projector as remarkable achievements, saying that taking care of the staff of the institution and their office accomodations is very important.
“With the provision of this office complex, staff will be free to run their activities without any disturbance, this will boost academic performance of the students.”
The Council chairman however urged the state government to allocate more fund for the institution, so that management of the school will be able to provide conducive environment of learning for the students
The deputy director in charge of Higher Education at Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Adeola Ademuyiwa lauded the efforts of the institution towards the welfarism of it’s staff, saying that this was the beginning of greater things in the institution.
The dignitaries at the event included members of the Governing Council of the institution, registrar of the institution, Mrs Modupe Fawale and other principal officers, Dean of faculties, and Heads of Department (HOD) among others.
