The only All Progressives Congress, APC, elected House of Representatives’ member from Oyo South senatorial district, in the just concluded Saturday, February 23, 2019 national assembly election,Prince Musiliu Akinremi, has stated that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, come March 9, 2019 governorship and state house of assembly elections, Engr. Seyi Makinde, would only be chasing shadows, going by his resolve in a recent press statement credited to him, that the party would soon challenge APC victory in Ibadan North and the other 13 federal constituencies won by party.

OYO INSIGHT recalled that Akinremi, who is a Canadian, American, Liberian-based businessman, won his election to represent Ibadan North federal constituency last week.

Akinremi spoke while addressing his numerous supporters and well wishers during the celebration of his electoral victory, held recently, in front of his Prince Akinremi Foundation (PAF), on the football pitch at Yemetu Barracks, Yemetu Ibadan.

While rededicating his electoral victory to God and the people, Akinremi said it was laughable and illogical for the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state to have seen irregularities in all the constituencies won by the APC in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, but to applaud and see nothing wrong in the Oyo South Senatorial district won by his party.

He pointed out that the people had already spoken with their votes and advised the PDP gubernatorial candidate to wait till after Bayo Adelabu, the APC gubernatorial candidate in the state wins the March 9, 2019 governorship election, in order for him and his PDP party to be able to challenge APC victory in the state altogether before the election petition tribunal, adding that it is obvious that the PDP gubernatorial candidate joys in chasing shadows.

Akinremi further added that he wondered why the PDP gubernatorial candidate didn’t take a cue from the political maturity, as well as the spirit of sportsmanship displayed in the congratulatory message sent by the outgoing Governor of the state, His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who was the APC candidate for Oyo South Senatorial district, to Dr. Muhammed Kola Balogun of the PDP, over his victory of the electoral seat, shortly after the elections.

He said that based on the electioneering campaigns, along with the couple of governorship debates gubernatorial candidates of major political parties in the state has had, it was obvious to all that Adelabu, the APC standard bearer in the state, is the best man to occupy Agodi Government House come May 29, 2019.

Akinremi explained that Bayo Adelabu has no doubt displayed outstanding knowledge of the workings of government all through, along with emphasis on a blueprint of how he intends to move the state to a next level of unparalleled development in all aspects of governance for the benefit of all and sundry.

He, however, pointed out that Makinde, the PDP gubernatorial candidate and his party has so far not proffered anything proficient, concerning better alternatives to the laudable achievements recorded so far in the state by the Governor Ajimobi-led APC administration, in terms of provision of adequate security of lives and property, improvement on health services, educational standards, solid road developments and other infrastructures.

He further told the people that the basis of campaign of Makinde and his PDP has only been that the party’s gubernatorial candidate is a philanthropist and a business mogul, including the sponsorship of negative propaganda, watery and illogical criticisms along with assassination of the characters of political opponents.

While enjoining his supporters to double their efforts in ensuring that the APC wins with landslides in all the 12 wards of Ibadan North local government in the forthcoming governorship and state parliament elections, Akinremi further pointed out that the governing of a state is more than just being a philanthropist or being a successful in one’s business.

He argued that for the fact that Adelabu, the APC governorship candidate in the Pacesetter state is also a philanthropist who doesn’t make noise about it, as well as one who has rendered quintessential services all through as a top manager of the largest international audit firm in the world, to top sensitive posts in both public and private sectors to the Apex Bank of the country in his youth, it would only be prejudicial for anybody to dispute it that his contributions to the development of the society at large, especially to his state of origin is yet untapped.
