Family heads in Ibadanland, otherwise knows as Ibadan Mogajis, have commended the appointment of Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje as Iyaloja-General of Oyo State.

She moved from her previous Otun Iyaloja to a substantive one formerly occupied by Alhaja Wuraola Asake Kola-Daisi, who died on Thursday, October 22, 2020.

Konibaje’s appointment takes effect immediately.

In a statement by the trio of Mogaji AbdulJelyl Adanla, Mogaji Abass Oloko and Olawale Oladoja, coordinator, deputy coordinator and publicity secretary respectively, the family heads said the appointment could not have come at a better time.

”With her experience and exposure, we are double sure the leadership of the traders, artisans, market men and women got it right. While we salute them for making a right choice, we want to say that Alhaja Konibaje has the needed magic wand to turn around things in the state. She’s been there for long and we are of the opinion that her tenure would witness tremendous achievements.

”Also, we will like to commend the association for getting it right and for the rancour-free selection process. It is a good thing. And we would like to identify with them for this rare feat. We are not only proud of them, we promised to be close to them, especially in whatever capacity they may lead us.

”This would not be complete without congratulating Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadannland; Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, the Soun of Ogbomoso and other numerous monarchs for the support given to the traders’ association over the years.

“Commendations must also be given to our governor and brother, Engr. Seyi Makinde for not interfering in the process. This is unprecedented and we want to thank him for that. By doing so, he has shown he is father to all and committed to the growth of the state,” the statement added.
