Two prominent ibadan mogajis— Abass Oloko and Ademola Olasomi have slammed one of their colleagues— Asimiyu Ariori for referring to some Ibadan compound heads as mercenaries and rolling tools.

In a statement, the duo quoted Ariori as making the statement which they termed inflammatory, clarifying that an elderly man who became Mogaji same day with the current Olubadan, Ọba Mohood Balogun, should have been found making such reckless remark.

According to Oloko and Olasomi, it was denigrating for Ariori, who is the president of all Mogajis to call those in the Ibadan Authentic Mogajis as such.

Oloko and Olasomi, who are both former appointees of the ‘Seyi Makinde administration demanded retraction from Ariori in the next 24 hours, failure of which they will seek legal action.

“We are miffed to listen to Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori yesterday on Bosenlo, A Lagelu 96.7 FM programme when here said that members of the Ibadan Authentic Mogajis are mercenaries. Though it was off point as that was not the answer to the question he was asked, we challenge him to bring evidence of any of us who are mercenaries.

“Though we wouldn’t have replied him but for posterity sake and our people who may have another thing in mind against such. We are giving him 24 hours to retract the statement or he faces legal action. We cannot allow him say what is not true and we keep quiet. He should rather retract the statement

“There is no denying the fact that we are in support of the government of Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde. Not only that, we are in support of the law that reviewed Ibadan chieftaincy declaration. And this is because he is someone who respects constituted authority. Everyone was carried along. We are with him.
