Governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, in the 2019 election, Barr. Sharafadeen Alli, has described as untrue statement that he was a member of Governor Advisory Council, instituted by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Alli, who made this known in a chat with OYOINSIGHT.COM, was reacting to a report in Sahara Reporters which quoted him as being a member of the council.
This newspaper understands that the pioneer council chairman of Ibadan North local government and ex-secretary to the state government and other governorship candidates stepped down for Makinde as the coalition candidate in the 2019 governorship election.
Makinde had listed Alli, who was once chief of staff to former governor Rashidi Ladoja, as a member of the council headed by a former commissioner, Sen. Hosea Ayoola Agboola. Alli, OYOINSIGHT.COM recalled, boycotted the inauguration.
In a mail to the author of the piece, a copy of which was made available to his newspaper, Alli, a former chairman of O’dua group of companies, explained that “I just read a piece purportedly prepared by you on the above subject concerning the current administration in Oyo State.
“I need to inform you that I am not and have never been a member of the Governor or is it the State Advisory Council. So there’s no way I would have been bothered about the action(s) of its Chairman or members.
“I remain a part of the coalition that birthed the present day government in Oyo State having withdrawn my candidature and declared my support (and that of our teeming membersand supporters) for Engr. Seyi Makinde of the PDP.
