The authentic Oyo state working committee of Accord under the chairmanship of Prince Kolade Ojo has described the purported dissolution of the executives and pseudo inauguration of an interim committee as an exercise built on faulty foundation which cannot stand.
A statement in Ibadan by the state secretary of Accord, Hon Olayinka Dairo explained that the kangaroo inauguration was illegal as there is no Accord National Working Committee empowered by the party constitution to do so.
“There has been no convention to usher in substantive Accord National Working Committee following the expiration of the term of the immediate past national executives”, Hon. Dairo clarified.
According to him “the unsubstantiated exercise was in contravention of Accord constitution, as the letter of supposed dissolution of the state working committee was written by a non-existing body, and therefore is null and void”.
He pointed out that candidates have no power to nominate caretaker committee members and that the Accord legal adviser, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem and the National Vice Chairman, South West, Alhaji Dokun Babarinde acted in discordant to the party constitution.
“The Accord National Working Committee has been dissolved since 2022, and the existing National Caretaker Committee lacks power to dissolve or inaugurate any caretaker committee, hence the exercise was a fraud. The players only worked for the bribe received”.
The Accord scribe cautioned impostors against parading themselves as executives, urging members of the public and security agents not to give them recognition.
While reacting to allegations of collecting money for nomination forms and campaign funds to the tune of three billion naira, Dairo challenged the political merchants to back their claims with clear evidence, if such ever occurred.
Dairo who urged party members and executives to sustain unity, peaceful conduct and integrity, called on people of Oyo state to support the 32 Accord house of assembly candidates and Governor Seyi Makinde for continuity of good governance in the pace setter state.
