A former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Maroof Atilola has written a ‘save our soul’ letter to Governor Seyi Makinde over the deplorable status of major roads in Oyo town.
Hon. Maroof, in the letter made available to OYOINSIGHT, described the roads as ‘death traps’ .
The former Speaker also stated these roads were in deplorable state because they were “poorly executed and commissioned by last administration in Oyo Town.”
“The one from Owode — linking Oyo — Ibadan express way is in very deplorable condition, In fact, it has become death trap to road users added to this are median and side walks that are of sub standards: the castings done were hurriedly constructed and can’t be compared to those done in Ibadan land by competed contractors.
“Added to this hurriedness is d street lights that were never fitted.Same problems applied to d second dua carriage way from Owode – Alaafin palace,” he wrote in the letter.
He, however, commended the quality of work the contractor handling the blocking on potholes in the town.
He noted that if this particular contractor was awarded the contract of the main roads by the last administration, they would be better off .
