Ahead of the Court of Appeal judgment in the suit against tribunal’s recent decision which dismissed petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Ademola Omotoso against the victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmaker representing Ibadan North, Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi, clerics and traders in the council on Thursday urged Akinremi Jagaban to ‘fear no evil’.
The tribunal in its landmark judgment affirmed Akinremi Jagaban as the winner of the House of Representatives election held in February this year.
Before then, a Federal High Court in Ibadan had also dismissed a suit by Ademola Omotoso’s challenging the qualification of Akinremi Jagaban as the APC candidate.
On Thursday, some market men and women in a goodwill messages to Akinremi Jagaban urged him to remain focussed in the task of providing quality representation to the people of Ibadan North federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
Prayer leaders for Ward 1 in Ibadan North, Alfa Iskilu Rufai and Ward 3, Pastor Ayo Adefila in a message to Akinremi, prayed God to grant the lawmaker more wisdom and energy to succeed “because you have started well and starters are not the ones worthy of applause but the ones who endure till the end are worthy of real praise”.
Also, representatives of the Bodija international market, including the President of yam sellers, Mr. Ezekiel Samsudeen and President of pepper grinding section on the market Mr. Tajudeen Olaiya admonished Akinremi Jagaban to always remember that they are solidly behind him and “we have never regretted voting you in the last general election.
“We are daily praying to God to give you victory over known and unknown enemies for Ibadan North to benefit fully from your philanthropic gestures. Fear no evil and remain steadfast honourable,” they wrote.
The traders commended the lawmaker for the purchase of NECO forms for 150 students last week in Ibadan North and the scholarship for a number of indigent students in tertiary institutions.
They also recalled Akinremi Jagaban sponsorship of 34 constituents to Saudi Arabia, even before his inauguration in June.
They lauded him for the employment for graduates within just four months and his promise to assist more youths to be gainfully employed.
They added that, “we will always remember you in our prayers. We know that you will deliver on all your promises because even before you became a lawmaker, you were a philanthropist of note, who adds value to the lives of the people irrespective of where they came from.
