In a bold step towards bridging healthcare gaps in underserved communities, the Faysol Oluwakemi Grassroots Development Initiative (FOGDEV Initiative) on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, held a free medical outreach programme tagged “Project Ibadan Southwest”, offering vital health services to over 300 residents at the Popoyemoja Palace of the late Olubadan, Ọba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji.

The outreach included blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, malaria screening, and general health consultations, alongside an engaging health talk and sensitization session.

A special awareness session on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) was also featured and delivered by Dr. Dare Olagoke-Adaramoye, the Founder of Trailblazer Initiative, who passionately addressed the dangers of the harmful practice and encouraged collective action toward its eradication.

Founder of the initiative, Faysol Oluwakemi, expressed deep fulfillment at the success of the programme.

“Today’s turnout and impact reaffirm our belief that true leadership begins with service. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve our people and contribute meaningfully to their well-being. This is only the beginning for FOGDEV Initiative,” he said.

The outreach touched lives directly, with heartfelt reactions from beneficiaries. Mama Musiliatu Ganiyu, an 80-year-old resident, couldn’t hide her gratitude.

“I am so grateful for this opportunity. At my age, having access to health checks like this is a big relief. May God bless Faysol Oluwakemi and his team,” she prayed.

Another beneficiary, Taiwo Olayiwola, described the convener as “a true definition of a grassroots developer.”

“This is the kind of initiative we need more of in our communities. Faysol Oluwakemi and his team must not relent, they’re doing something truly impactful,” he added.

The outreach, supported by the Get Healthy Africa Initiative GHAi, further solidifies FOGDEV Initiative’s commitment to promoting health education, social advocacy, and sustainable development in local communities. Faysol Oluwakemi also reiterated the need for stronger collaborations among stakeholders to support interventions that address the pressing needs of the people.
Participants were provided with refreshments to ensure a warm and community-friendly atmosphere throughout the day.
