In what looks like the Seyi Makinde administration’s inability to continue payment of workers’ salary, the Oyo State House of Assembly Thursday evening has approved another N3.5 billion overdraft for salary.
This came few hours after the Adebo Ogundoyin-led assembly approved the request of the governor to borrow N2 billion naira for infrastructure,
The overdraft approval was hurriedly done as lawmakers quickly moved into the chambers, with mace and approved the request, the assembly source told OYOINSIGHT.COM.
Overdraft is a deficit in a bank account caused by drawing more money than the account holds.
Shortly before then, the lawmakers had been engaged in shouting match over the money given to them by the speaker for approving the initial N2 billion loan.
Said the source: “Soon after they finished the approval of the loan, the lawmakers engaged in shouting match over the paltry N100,000 given to each of them as tip for approving the loan. The lawmakers were disappointed and expressed sadness over the speaker’s action.”
Some lawmakers who spoke to this newspaper confirmed the development but said that there was no shouting match.
