In 2019, Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde during a thank you visit to the people of Ogbomosho promised that his administration would patronize only indigenous contractors.
This, according to him, will help to improve the economy of the state and enable these indigenous contractors participate in the running of the state.
“Instead, contracts will be awarded to citizens of the state so as to improve our economy and make the indigenous contractors partake in the running of the state,” Pulse Newspaper quoted Makinde saying.
However, a little over one year into his four-year tenure, Governor Makinde has awarded the construction of the 21km Airport-Ajia-New Ife Road-Amuloko road project to an Asaba-based company – Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Ltd.
This project which will be funded using the Alternative Project Funding Approach, APFA, will cost N8.52 billion.
Meanwhile, a search by OYOINSIGHT.COM revealed that the company the state government awarded the contract did not make available their contact information online.
The only web address with the company’s name is also not accessible.
The only available trace to prevent the company from being ‘faceless’ is its details which were available on the website of the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC.
The company’s CAC registration number is 739820. It was registered on the 4th of April, 2008.
The details of the company available on the CAC website also confirmed findings by OYOINSIGHT.COM that the company is a non-indigenous one.
The address of the company available on the CAC website read: No. 25, Okelue street, beside Jamb office, Asaba, Delta.
Efforts by OYOINSIGHT.COM to reach out to the company proved abortive as there was no contact on the website.
