A former caretaker chairman of Ibadan North local government, Idris Lapade, over the weekend revalidated his membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Lapido, who performed the exercise at his unit 028, ward 5 area of the council, said one of the solutions to the constant disunity within the party is to adopt option A4 in selecting candidates for elections.

According to him, “I have just revalidated my membership of our great party. And I love the way the exercise is going. I want to advise the youths to register for a party, it is the only way they can really get involved in decision making. They have to be told that elections start from the party congresses to the party primaries which will determine the candidates we will all vote for on election day. We must all take part from the beginning.

“After the BLM protests in America, most youths registered to join the Democratic party while some went to Republican, and they all campaigned and voted, from the primaries to the November 2020 elections to defeat Donald Trump.

“I will also like to advise my party, APC, not to decieve members with being united. Everybody still has his or her own selfish interest, the only way to keep the party united is to adopt the option A4 open ballot system, where members line up behind aspirants from the congresses to the primary elections. The transparency is what will keep the party united and it will also discourage the use of money to buy elections.”

The University of Lagos however declined comments when OYOINSIGHT.COM asked if he would be contesting the 2023 election.
