A former chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Ahaji Abass Abolaji Najimudeen, has declared his intention to represent Ibadan South East Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Gbayawu, as he is popularly called, made this known during a call to service/declaration programme held at Mapo hall, Ibadan on Tuesday.
According to him, his intention to contest was borne out of the call to service made by the people of his consistency.
Hear him: “I have received calls from different groups and individuals in this our local government and that is why I have decided to hearken to their calls to represent them at the state house of assembly,“ he said.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the day, Alhaji Mojeed Adegbenro, described Gbayawu as a visionary leader who was able to pull the tumultuous crowd because of the impact he has made in the society, especially during his tenure as the chairman of Ibadan South East Local government.
“People are gathering here today because of Alhaji Abass Abolaji; a visionary leader and who has the love of the people at heart,” he said.
While giving his declaration speech, Gbayawu said the pillar of a democratic governance lies on the legislative arm and that is why people of good integrity should always be consider for such position.
“The demands of morality, integrity and uprightness on the part of the legislators who are watchdogs for the executives is very strict.
“I hereby seek the support of all members of our party in this local government for proper representation at the state hallowed chamber,,“ he said.
He further reiterated his loyalty to the executive governor of Oyo State; Senator Abiola Ajimobi who he described as his leader.
