Says only NEC has power to approve Such Amount
The recent abysmal scandal rocking the PDP has left so much to be inferred. While Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Orbih, Olusoji Adagunodo and Effa- Ettoe have towed a path of honour by returning the strange money domiciled in their accounts, the embattled Narional Chairman, Senator Iyochia Ayu and the remaining eighteen National Working Committee (NWC) members should follow suit.
Ayu must proceed to give proper account of the N14B proceeds from the sale of the Nomination Forms to the aspirants, a group within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Youth Advocate for Equity made this position known through its spokesperson, Sodiq Olaiya while reacting to the controversy that has trailed the return of money by Ambassador Arapaja and others had generated.
According to the statement, “Ayu, through the National Publicity Secretary of the party has argued that the unfounded allowance “went through the due process of the Party in line with the conditions of Service and Entitlement of Staff and Principal officers of the Party” we found this claim to be outright false and face save just to conceal the real intention of disbursing the said money.
“The money paid into the accounts of the supposed beneficiaries if well calculated, runs to over a billion of naira which only the National Executive Council of the Party has power to approve. Senator Ayu and the National Working Committee (NWC) lack the powers to approve such. The backdoor arrangement through which Ayu approved the monies is criminal, and a ploy to cover up his tracks.
“If truly NWC members are entitled to Housing Allowance, why delaying it till this time when they have already spent more than nine months in office?
“Defending the undefendable will not be expedient for Ayu and his allies at this time, but the honourable thing for him and his co travellers is to retrace their steps and give accurate account of PDP fund,” the statement concluded.
