Double A Humanitarian Foundation, an Ibadan-based organization, has organized an empowerment scheme to help 15 residents across the state amid the rising cost of living and economic crisis in the country.
The beneficiaries, who are all small-scale traders, received a cash support of N50,000 each from the Foundation at the end of the selection process in Ibadan on Tuesday.
According to the Foundation’s Executive Director, Abiodun Adewale (an Ibadan based on air personality, the anchor of Aditu Programme on Splash FM), this empowerment scheme, through which the Foundation gave out a total of N750,000 to help beneficiaries, is the second phase for the year.
Speaking with OYOINSIGHT, the Foundation’s Treasurer, Mr. Alamu Olaoluwa, who spoke on behalf of other members of the team, noted that the scheme is designed to help beneficiaries upgrade their businesses.
“We give glory to God for those that he is using for the foundation, both home and abroad. They contributed their quota to support us in order to empower these people. This empowerment has been on over the years and this is the second edition this year. The first one we did this year, there were 15 beneficiaries and each of them collected N50,000 each, likewise this one too.
“We hope to uplift these businesses and make them grow so that at the end of the day, they too will be in a position to help others in the future,” he explained.
One of the beneficiaries, Raimi Oluwamayowa, described the financial support from the Foundation as a timely gift that is invaluable. “We are very grateful. In times like this, this empowerment is a big support for us. It will help my business a lot. It’s difficult to even see loans these days, not to talk of empowerment,” she said.
Another beneficiary, Iyabo Adeyemo, who intends to invest the financial support in her foodstuff store, described it as a much-needed lifeline.
“This money will help my business. Anyone who knows what is going on in this country will understand me. I am very grateful to Double A Foundation. May God continue to reward them,” she noted.
The empowerment team however express their profound gratitude to everyone who contributed one way or the other towards the great art of charity, especially their sponsors with the ward of prayer that the almighty God continue to replenish them exceedingly.
