The Seyi Makinde-led administration has commenced the demolition of Alegongo market in Akobo area of Ibadan, the state capital, OYOINSIGHT.COM can report.

Traders at the market were still packing out goods from their shops, over 400, when the demolition of the market started earlier this week.

In multiple videos of the incident provided to OYOINSIGHT.COM by eyewitnesses, trading materials were seen scattered around as the demolition was carried out.

Multiple residents have expressed concern about the affordability of the proposed new shops that will replace the demolished market.

The market’s demolition follows a pattern established by the Makinde administration, including the recently paused intention to demolish part of Aleshinloye market before a  fire outbreak that destroyed goods worth millions.
