In the bid to control the spread of COVID-19 and cushion the effects of the partial lockdown in the State, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has distributed food items and preventive materials to over two thousand constituents.
While sharing the relief items structurally to 10 quarters that made up his constituency yesterday, Ogundoyin noted that a COVID-19 response team has being constituted to ensure the items get to those that actually need them- the indigents.
According to him, since the State government is reasonable to adopt partial stay home policies instead of total shutdown for the sake of masses living on gain from their daily hustle, provisions must be made to ensure social distancing, sanitizing of hands, nose masking and other measures of control are abided with by the people.
He said, “Today, I joined our #COVIDー19 Team in my constituency to intensify sensitization efforts, distribute food items and preventive materials to control the spread of the pandemic virus and cushioning the effects of the partial Stay At Home order by the Oyo State Government.
“This is part of our commitment towards the safety and wellbeing of our people. Thus, I implore us not to panic, but rather corporate with the Oyo State Government, and other authorities by following all guidelines and instructions through this critical time.
“Let’s Stay at Home, maintain social distancing, wash hands properly with soap and clean water, sanitize our hands with alcohol-based sanitizer, and reach out to approximate channels in case of any symptom.
On the issue of Governor Seyi Makinde who tested positive to the virus, Ogundoyin assured that the Governor is in good spirit and good health, adding that he is optimistic that the Governor and other victims of the virus in the State and Nigeria will soon recover fully.
“Governor Makinde is such an honest public servant, with absolute commitment to the development of the State, and wellbeing of its people. That’s why he always lead from the front.
“At this critical time, Our prayers are with him and every other Nigerians battling with COVID-19, I believe we will overcome,” he added.
