The Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development in Oyo State, Mr. Jacob Ojemuyiwa, has announced that the state has identified 90 percent of the “poorest of the poor” who will receive palliatives.
The Commissioner stated this on Wednesday while receiving donations from individuals and organizations for the state to distribute as COVID-19 palliatives.
He noted that that the state is not oblivious of the fact that COVID-19 had imposed more hardship on its residents.
He stressed further that the state government had sent people to the various local government areas and local council development areas and the needed data was being turned in.
He, however, noted that the state still needs more donations and assured the donors that the palliatives will get to the right poorest of the poor.
“Our people are hungry and the pandemic has compounded their hunger. Every day, I receive hundreds of messages of people requesting for support,” he said.
