The Caretaker Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Honourable Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi, has taken actions to increase awareness about coronavirus and prevent its spread amonghis constituents.
During the sensitization, the Chairman distributed handbillscontaining information on how to prevent the virus and create awareness about its symptoms.
In a statement about his efforts to create awareness about the pandemic that has killed over 15,000 people globally, he wrote, “Wehave also explored various channels of communication to enlightenour people and provide all necessary information.”
During the sensitization program, the local government boss also distributed 500 hand sanitizers, 500 face masks, 250 pairs of handgloves, Soaps and bowls for washing of hands to people of his Local Government Area as a measure to prevent coronavirus.
He then urged everyone to support the efforts of the governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde in the fight to curb the spread of the virusin the state by maintaining social distancing and observing otherprecautionary measures recommended by experts.
The efforts of the chairman are part of measures government andauthorities at various levels are putting in place to prevent the spreadof COVID-19, a virus that originated from China in December lastyear.
At the time of writing this report, the country has a total of 51confirmed cases including the Chief of staff to the President, AbbaKyari and Mohammad Atiku, a son of former Vice President AtikuAbubakar.
The index case in Oyo the pacesetter state is still only one.
