A principal assistant registrar, Mr. Onike Ramoni and Engr. Dauda Lasisi, the acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora have emerged winners in the just concluded congregation election into the Governing Council of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.
The two congregation representatives emerged after a keenly contested election by six different contestants who participated in the election.
Mr. Onike Ramoni and Engr. Dauda Lasisi are the fourth set of representatives to be elected into the Governing Council of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, since the establishment of the institution.
Announcing the election results, the Chairman, Congregation Electoral Committee, Mr. Ajao Rasheed declared Alhaji Onike Ramoni who had 151 votes and Engr. Dauda Lasisi with 126 votes as winners.
According to the Electoral Chairman, other contestants which include; Prince Adaramola Kehinde pulled 107 votes, while Mr. Ajuwon Opeyemi recorded 104 votes.
He added that BLDR. Kunle Aderogba had 57 votes and Mrs. Comfort Adegbite garnered 16 votes.
The electoral Chairman revealed that the total number of votes cast was 294 out of 343 eligible votes.
The Five-man Electoral Committee which comprises of Mr. Ajao Rasheed, Mr. Popoola, Mr. Akintonde, Dr. Amuzat and Dr. Ajibade thanked the congregation and the management for the opportunity to serve as electoral officers.
Giving the acceptance speech, Alhaji Onike who spoke on behalf of the winners, thanked the Congregation members for the honour given to them to serve as congregation representatives on the Governing Council of OYSCATECH, Igboora.
In his words, “the Staff have proved that OYSCATECH is one, be it teaching or non-teaching.
This is clear evidence that Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology has grown to become a community and I am fully persuaded that unity has been restored among us. I therefore, dedicated the victory to the congregation members. ”
The congregation representatives, therefore promised not to let the people down, while commending the electoral committee for the transparent and good conduct of the election.
Earlier in his manifestos, Alhaji Onike who is a chartered Public Manager pledged the effective utilization of his over two decades experience in public service to provide quality representation, build bridges, develop synergy and ensure proper linkages between teaching and non-teaching staff.
Onike Ramoni also promised to adopt a guiding principle of how to achieve unity of voice, purpose and intent.
He x-rayed his four-point agenda to include; welfare of fellow staff members, participatory representation, evolving the culture of participatory agenda setting and effective feedback mechanism as well as improving academic culture and supporting best practices.
Engr. Lasisi in his manifesto promised to use collective decision making and periodic feedback mechanism towards improving staff welfare and institutional development.
The congregation members and the entire Staff of the institution have congratulated the newly elected congregation representatives.
It would be recalled that Dr. Olaniyan Olugbenga and Dr. Gbolahan Oyelere had in the past served as congregation representatives on the Governing Council of OYSCATECH, while Mrs. OkoroRobbinson Mary and Engr. Oluseyi Akangbe are the immediate past congregation representatives.
Meanwhile, the Acting Registrar has presented Certificate of Return to the two elected officers.
