The director, public affairs and critical communications of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential and governorship campaign council, in Oyo State, Kehinde Olaosebikan, has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, government, accusing ‘Seyi Makinde, of insincerity in his educational policy.

Speaking on IBR 92.5fm (Amutajero) flagship political programme hosted by Aanuoluwapo Omorinde today, the former chief press secretary to late former governor Lam Adesina alleged that many of the primary schools in Oyo State do not have teachers needed to teach the pupils.

His words “we are not even talking about the schools in rural areas because you can only imagine what those ones will look like. In the city of Ibadan go and check many of the schools do not have teachers. In some schools, it’s only the Heads of the schools that is are ground and education at this level is very important. That is the kind of education they are giving our children in Oyo State. As I speak with you, in some schools, classes are merged such that primary one and two have been merged, three and four, five and six and so on and the pupils are being taught by one teacher. It is not about how much we budget or spend, it is about result. That is why we must send this government packing.”

Speaking further, he said the civil servants are no longer with the incumbent government.

According to him, “the civil servants are tired of this government. Our governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin has been meeting with them. They are complaining seriously. Let me tell you beyond salaries, every civil servants want job satisfaction and that, they are not getting under this government because consultants have taken over their responsibilities. I was reading the other day how some of them were protesting the non-remittance of their cooperative deductions. They can no longer collect loan from their cooperative societies because the government is short-changing them and the truth is that these people live on loans.

Speaking further, Olaosebikan said the result of a poll conducted by a credible organization released last Wednesday gave the APC 56%.

He also said Accord members who left the APC will return to the broom party before the election as they have a common enemy to fight.

But reacting, the publicity secretary of the PDP, Engineer Akeem Olatunji said the APC is only trying to sell its failed bid with Makinde’s name.

He said all the primary school teachers illegally sacked by the APC government have been re-absorbed by Makinde.

“If their government has done the needful, we will not be talking of inadequate teachers in primary schools today and we all know what the economic situation of the country is presently. For eight years, the Ajimobi government did not recruit primary school teachers. Governor Seyi Makinde has recruited five thousand secondary school teachers. If he could do that in his first term, it simply means he will do same for primary school in his second term”.

He described the allegation that civil servants in Oyo State are tired of Makinde saying the support of the workers and pensioners for the current government of the PDP in Oyo State is not in contention at all.
