A former secretary to the state government in Oyo State, Dr Busari Adebisi has said that the core values the progressives are known for have gone down since the demise of former governor Lamidi Adesina.

Lam-Adesina, as the former governor was called, was the leader of the progressives from 1999 till he died on November 11, 2012.

Adebisi, who left the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC with the breakaway faction- The Unity Forum, for the newly formed African Democratic Congress, ADC, explained that the original ideological base of the progressives have been eroded under the APC.

Speaking at a joint press conference addressed by him and another former SSG, Chief Olayiwola Olakojo, who is the coordinator of ADC in the state, Adebisi added that “Since the former governor Lam Adesina’s death, the progressives party, as represented by the APC, has gone down ideologically and we are just trying to revive the progressive instincts we are known for.

“Ibadan, Oyo State, was the hub of the South-west progressive politics. Our politics no more wears human faces. We will bring those good old days back in ADC. The era of internal democracy will be back in ADC. The APC unity forum has coalesced with other like minds to drive ADC for the electoral success ahead.”

He added that the party was working and leaving no stone unturned in its resolve to chase APC out of power in 2019.
