Oyo South Senatorial Hopeful, Bimbo Adekanmbi has put smiles on the faces of tertiary institution students from Ibadan and Ibarapa local governments by splashing cash worth 5 millions on them.
The disbursement of the bursary which took place at his senatorial office in Ibadan North East Local Government, Iwo Road had in attendance notable Ibadan leaders from Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes and Omo Ajorosun Club of Ibadan.
You will recall that the former Oyo State Commissioner for Finance, who is passionate about education had in recent times distributed free JAMB forms, held tutorials and sponsored those that came out in flying colours to Universities.
Speaking to the press after the disbursement, Adekanmbi reiterated his commitment to education stating that students need to be motivated to do better in school to be able to compete with colleagues and most important make themselves employable after school.
The representative of Ajorosun club, Abiodun Alli in his remark commended Bimbo Adekanmbi for putting the interest of the students and youths at heart and by taking his time to pick amongst the best which he believes would be a motivation for those that are lagging behind.
“I have known Bimbo Adekanmi for a while and i can say that he took after his father who was passionate about everything that has to do with Ibadan and obviously, he is toiling such path.
“This programme is strictly for youths because they are the leaders of today and tomorrow.
“The organizers have done well to pick amongst the best by setting a standard to compensate students who are academically sound and motivate those who are below this standard to do better” he said.
One of the bursary coordinators, Ishola Adetoyese Akeem, in his closing remark appreciated the students for their academic prowess and making themselves available for the program.
