BREAKING: INEC Deploys Adeniran To Oyo, Agboke, Salami Go To Osun, Ekiti

    Adeniran Tella Rahmon, a Ph.D, has been deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to oversee the 2023 elections in Oyo State, as resident electoral commisioner, REC, OYOINSIGHT.COM has learnt.

    Immediate past Oyo REC, Mutiu Agboke, a lawyer and Ph.D, has been posted to neighbouring Osun.

    Ayo Salami, a professor and immediate past vice-chancellor of First Technical University, Tech-U, Ibadan, has replaced Adeniran in Ekiti as REC.

    A total of 19 newly appointed REC are currently being sworn in by the INEC today.

    The PUNCH had reported on October 5, 2022, that the 19 RECs were confirmed by the Senate.

    In July, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) transmitted the names of 19 nominees as Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission to the Senate for confirmation.

    The renewal nominees confirmed include Ibrahim Abdullahi (Adamawa); Obo Effanga (Cross River); Umar Ibrahim (Taraba); Agboke Olaleke (Ogun); and Professor Samuel Egwu (Kogi).

    Those confirmed for fresh appointment are Onyeka Ugochi (Imo); Muhammad Bashir (Sokoto); Ayobami Salami, a professor, (Oyo); Zango Abdu (Katsina); Queen Agwu (Ebonyi); and Agundu Tersoo (Benue); Yomere Oritsemlebi (Delta); Yahaya Ibrahim, a professor, (Kaduna); Nura Ali (Kano); Agu Uchenna (Enugu); Ahmed Garki (FCT); Hudu Yunusa (Bauchi); Uzochukwu Chijioke, a professor, (Anambra); and Mohammed Nura (Yobe).
