Tolulope Akande Sadipe, representative of the people of Oluyole federal constituency, in the house of representatives, has revealed that Mukhtar Betara Aliyu, who is eyeing the speakership of the green chambers, was instrumental to her return.
Sadipe, who is of the All Progressives Congress, APC, spoke at the declaration of Betara, who is representing Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency of Borno State for the 5th term, monitored by OYOINSIGHT.COM.
According to Sadipe, who herself is eyeing the deputy speakership, Betara was one of those who welcome her into the house when she was first elected in 2019.
“I am a member of the 9th assembly, I would also be a member of the 10th assembly. I can understand why I am being called to speak. I can say a lot of things about Hon. Betara. When I came to the house in 2019, he was one of the first persons who welcome me. And he has stood for me as a brother since then. He is contesting today and I am happy because he has shown the trait that he is all-encompassing. When you go to his office, you find a lot of people from across the country. I am one of them. He has an impact on my return. I can say that boldly. There are three people who have impacted me. He had a major impact on my primaries to my election, and to my rerun. As he was there for me, he was there for other people. I wish him all the best. For him to be in the race, he is a perfect man,” Sadipe, who is the only female federal lawmaker from the state, explained.
OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that Sadipe’s action is against party’s directive that members should support Abass Tajudeen (Zaria federal constituency) and Ben Kalu (Abia) as speakership and deputy speakership candidates.
Apart from Sadipe, OYOINSIGHT.COM learnt that, Musiliudeen Akinremi (Ibadan North federal constituency) who is eyeing the number two position was also in attendance.
At the declaration that just came to an end in Abuja, Betara’s former colleague and ex-leader of the green chamber who doubles as leader of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Oyo State, Mulikat Akande Adeola, was also in attendance.
Sadipe and Akinremi’s action, this newspaper understands, is against the zoning formula of their party.
OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that the APC, National Working Committee had nominated Godswill Akpabio and Abass Tajudeen as the next Senate President and House of Representatives speaker in the upcoming 10th National Assembly, respectively.
