Abiodun Dada Awoleye, who represented Ibadan North federal constituency between 2011, has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, sold dummy to Nigerians to win the 2023 election.
The politician, who is chairman of the primary health care board, said Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will takeover power in 2023.
Awoleye, who also represented Ibadan North constituency 2 between 2007 and 2011, lambasted the leadership of the national assembly as a rubber stamping legislature and a stooge to the executive.
Awoleye, made this known while featuring on Raypower 95.1 fm popular current affairs programme called POLITICS TODAY, discussing state of the nation with special focus on the legislature last Monday.
Responding to question asked by the host of the political programme, Olayemi Afolabi about state police to tame insecurity in the country, Awoleye said “I believe we need state police in Nigeria and when I was a member of the house of representatives, I suggested the idea of state police but the chairman of constitutional review committee then, Hon. Yusuf Lasun; he opposed it on the ground that state governors will use it against the opponent.
“Unfortunately, now the current national assembly leadership of Ahmed Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila lack the political-will to act in the interest of the nation because they are stooge to the executive. In 2015, they promised change and in 2019 it was next level but both mantras are dummy sold to Nigerians”
When Afolabi reminded the former lawmaker that PDP governed Nigeria for 16 years and was voted out of power in 2015 because of failure Awoleye said “Nigerians have tasted the two parties, APC and PDP and they will prefer PDP come 2023.
