According to Lalong, who spoke on the occasion, the committee had been mandated to look into the crisis facing the party in Imo, Ogun and Oyo states.

The disclosure, OYOINSIGHT.COM understands, is a confirmation of the expanded mandate of the committee.

This newspaper recalls that when  the committee was inaugurated a week ago by the chairman of the national caretaker committee of the party, Governor Mai Bala Buni of Yobe State, the mandate of the committee was limited to Imo and Ogun states.

The APC in Oyo state had been ridden with crisis since the disputed party congress of May 2018 which produced the incumbent executive committees of the party at all ward, local government and state levels.

Badaru, who spoke with journalists after the meeting with the vice-president was quoted as saying  “I met with the Vice President as a party leader to discuss the assignment that the party gave me to see how best we could unite and make the party strong in Imo, Ogun and Oyo states.

“It is just to make sure that the party is strong and back again, and if there are ripples among party members, to bring them together and make sure we have one strong and powerful party.”
