In a significant move towards fostering collaboration within the development sector, the Civil Society Organizations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI) has joined forces with United Nations agencies to address the challenges faced by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs).
This strategic partnership is aims to strengthen cooperation and streamline efforts for a more significant impact on sustainable development and humanitarian causes.
The Director-General of CSCHEI, Kunle Yusuff, in Abuja, emphasised the importance of partnerships in tackling issues such as coordination, funding, integration, administrative synergy, and access to information.
He noted that by working together, CSCHEI and its UN partners will leverage their respective strengths and expertise to design and implement targeted initiatives that support NGOs, CBOs, and FBOs in carrying out their vital work.
According to him, this collaboration will not only enhance operational efficiency but also enable these organizations to better align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Agenda 2030.
“As a result, the partnership between CSCHEI and UN agencies is expected to contribute to a more effective and coordinated approach towards achieving sustainable development and promoting humanitarian causes on both a national and global scale,” he said.
Yusuff further stressed: “We also want to use this opportunity to further inform the federal government that Nigerians are facing a serious challenge of livelihood occasioned by hard but necessary economic policies of government. As a bridge between the government and the masses, it has become a compelling imperative for us to, at this juncture, call upon Mr. President, as a matter of urgency to review.”
“The relationship between the government and CSOs, NGOs, CBOs, and FBOs. To also review the Presidential Food Security Committee.”
“The government should also consider a more people’s friendly tariff on electricity. The persistence of insecurity in the country demands a holistic re- engineering approach.”
“The cost of public higher education is becoming relatively too high for average Nigerians. It’s also important for CSOs to play an active role in reviewing the submission of the Presidential Tax Reforms Committee. The Civil Society should also monitor and evaluate 2024 Budget implementations.”
“The Civil Society Organisation should also join various government establishments to fight corruption and encourage the government to fight insecurity. We acknowledge and appreciate Mr. President efforts on the methodology adopted on the Ministry of Humanitarian and Hon. Minster Bette Edu. We would also like to thank Mr. President and Commander-In-Chief of Federal Republic of Nigeria for the engagement of Jim Obazee, the Special Investigator on CBN and other Government Business Entities.”
“The report on the public domain showed that the consultant handled his mandates professionally. We CSOs in Nigeria really want to know the status of the special investigator reports, most importantly appealing to permit this bold and professional special investigator to further investigate NNPC, NPA, NIMASA, CUSTOM and others for dear country financial stability. As we have all pledged our allegiance to National Unity.”
“To this end, we strongly identify with the education support intervention of students’ loan schemes. We are calling on the Government to make the scheme, robust, transparent and accessible to needy Nigerians to enable us generate the pool of educated young people with the necessary technical and managerial skills needed to galvanize the next generation and sustain the present momentum on the path of Sustainable Development Goals.”
“We also appreciate Mr. President for his tenacity in projecting the image of Nigeria to the global community, we want him to put more effort into diplomatic engagements. We will also conduct our own parallel research, monitor, evaluate, rate, and report most of the appointees of Mr. President.”
“Finally, Project 774 LGs, SDGs Programs will be launched. CSCHEI Advisory Council will soon be inaugurated, and 2024 projects and programs will be launched for action.”
