Former governor and candidate of the Action Democratic Party ADP, in next month’s gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala has said his son, Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, is not member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, despite being an executive chairman.
OYO INSIGHT recalled that Olamiju, who currently chairs Ogbomoso North local government, where his father once held sway, was made caretaker chairman of the council against his father’s wish. Alao-Akala had submitted the name of one of his loyalists.
The Ogbomoso-born spoke while fielding questions during the BBC Yoruba service gubernatorial debate in Ibadan today.
He declared that his son was elected as council doesn’t make him a member of the party.
He said that “My son is an adult, he is old enough to be on his own, he used the APC to contest election, he was voted in by people, that is how his father also started from the local government.”
He said he wanted to return to as governor, adding that he is the most experienced and competent candidate that can restore take the state to greater heights.
He maintained that he ruled the state with the fear of God while in office and would do same to make people happy if elected again.
