A senatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Joseph Tegbe, has commiserated with the family and people of Oyoland over the departure of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alaafin of Oyo.
With the transposition of His Imperial Majesty, Alaafin of Oyo, Oyo town, Yoruba Land and infact the entire black race has lost a great Monarch.
Kabiyesi’s death is a personal loss as he has been a father figure especially since 2002 when his friend, my late father passed on.
Ikú Bàbá Yeye enjoyed uncommon longevity and was an epitome of strength and wisdom. In his 83 years, Kabiyesi demonstrated progressive ideals and led a legacy of peace and harmony which Yorubas are known for. He was a rallying point for Yoruba people and a shining light for the entire black race
In his 52 years as Alaafin, Iku Baba Yeye sustained our heritage and identity as a people. With his passing, we have lost an encyclopedia of the culture and traditions. Oyo sons and daughters will remember him for his uncommon wisdom and emotional intelligence which he deployed in administering his domain, fostering peace and sustainable development.”
I extend my condolences to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, HE Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Government, the Oyo Mesi, the Olori and Ayabas, Prince and Princesses and indeed, all sons and daughters of Oyo in particular and Yoruba race in general on this great loss!
Atanda omo Ibironke!
Olayiwola, akọbi Adeniran!
Alowolodu b’iyere!!
Okuta meji baba ekuro,
Erin woo, Ajanaku sun bi oke
Sun re o, Ikú Baba Yeye
